It is a freshwater fish native to the Amazon region. It can be found in
Peru and Brazil, the Orinoco River in Colombia and Venezuela, and the
tributaries of the Amazon. Usually inhabits areas with rapid water,
always on the surface, behind obstacles like rocks and logs. It can
reach a maximum length of 88.0 cm (about 35 inches) and a maximum
weight of 6.0 kg (about 13 pounds).
